Our 14.5 inch glove is a BIG Glove and you really need a fairly large hand to use it. However you can gain some size to your hand by wearing a batting glove underneath the glove. Simply un-tie each of the three corners of the pocket support. Un-thread and remove the original pocket support, and re-thread the new one and re-tie the knots. If you find that the knots are too tight, you may want to use a fork or some kind of tool to loosen up the knot.

PROFESSIONAL MODEL GLOVES

What oils, or leather conditioners should I use on my Pro Model Glove?

This is the infamous age old question when it comes to Baseball gloves. Everyone has their own opinion on this one. From our experience talking with players young and old, amateur to professional; and from personally conditioning 100's of gloves with various products on the market, we have two recommended methods.

We recommend two safe methods when conditioning a good quality leather as used in our Pro Model Glove.

1. Hands down the best I have ever used is

Leather Therapy - Restorer & Conditioner.

I believe this stuff won product of the year 2007 by Entrepreneur magazine.

Use this along with the Leather Therapy -- Finish. Using both these products gives your glove that luster like glow the MLB players have on TV. I conditioned 2 of our Pro Model Gloves with these products. You can see the Luster and Glow below.

GREAT STUFF!!!!

Make sure you follow the directions on the bottle very carefully!

2. The next best method:

The Second method that will get the Job done, not quite as effectively as Leather Therapy products, is Vasoline Petroleum Jelly. This is a popular choice because it is relatively inexpensive and you can get it just about anywhere. Just remember on a new glove, lightly rub it all over the leather (not the embroidery), inside and out; get the laces really good! The Glove will soak it in until it gets enough. It might take a couple applications, then wipe all the excess off and let dry for 24 - 48 hours. Remember to lightly condition prior the season each year.

How do I break in my new Pro Model Glove?

After the conditioning phase, with your hand in the glove begin to roll the finger tips in and start working on forming the pocket by tossing a ball in and squeezing around the ball. I always enjoyed breaking in a new glove; in a strange way it's kind of bonding stage between you and your glove. After starting the pocket formation then just use the glove. Typically the better quality the glove, the longer it takes to break in; however a nicely broken in, conditioned glove will keep its shape and last a long time.

One thing to remember: make a conscious effort not to let anyone else use your glove!!! I really can't stress this enough. Everyone has different size hands and once a glove is stretched out, it pretty much stays to that form. My college coach had a habit of "borrowing" gloves during practice. Unfortunately, he had Mammoth hands that stretched all our gloves and made them loose and fall off. It's really not selfish-- just say no to glove bummers!

How often should I condition my Pro Model Glove?

We recommend conditioning somewhat heavily on your band new Pro Model glove, then lightly condition once per season.

How can I pro-long the life of my Pro Model Glove?

If you lightly re-condition your glove once per season, store it inside in a well ventilated area, and wipe down with a very damp cloth a couple times a year; your glove should last a very long time and like fine wine, even get better with age. You may need to re-lace, and tighten the finger tips after several seasons of use.

How should I store my Pro Model Glove during the off-season

You should always store your glove in a well ventilated area to avoid molding or drying out. If at all possible keep it out of a zipped up sports bag. Store in a well-ventilated area and try not to expose to extremes of heat and humidity.

Where can I get re-lacing kits?

We plan to sell re-lacing kits in the future; however you can find them at most major sporting goods stores, the internet, and sometimes at Wal-Mart .
